It was complete chaos in the auction hall during the IPL 2024 mini-auction when Punjab Kings went on to bid for the ‘wrong name’ or a ‘mistaken identity’ Shashank Singh, the 32-year-old batting all-rounder Shashank Singh. It also ignited a big debate in the cricketing corridors about this ‘wrong bid’.

However, Punjab Kings came up with a ‘clarification’ and stated in an official tweet that Shashank Singh was not a ‘mistaken bid or identity’ even though he was in their ‘go-to’ list always.

Now cut to the fourth match of PBKS in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 against Gujarat Titans, Shashank Singh came up with a big redemption and played a match-winning and wonderful unbeaten knock of 61 runs off just 29 balls, with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

His knock helped Punjab Kings to chase down the target of 200 runs in 19.5 overs and win the match by 3 wickets.

"Today seems like the perfect day" - Preity Zinta about Shashank Singh

Meanwhile, the owner of Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta came up with a special and a kind-of-clarification tweet for Shashank Singh after Punjab’s win against Gujarat Titans.

“Today seems like the perfect day to finally talk about things that were said in the past about us at the auction.  A lot of people in similar situations would have lost confidence, buckled under pressure or become de-motivated ……. but not Shashank! He is not like a lot of people. He is truly special. Not just because of his skill as a player but because of his positive attitude & incredible spirit,” wrote Zinta in her official tweet, including a selfie with Shashank Singh.

“He took all the comments, jokes and brickbats so sportingly & never became a victim. He backed himself and showed us what he is made of, and for that I applaud him 👏👏 He has my admiration & my respect. I hope he can be an example to all of you when life takes a different turn & does not play according to script, for it’s not what people think of you that matters, but what You think of Yourself! So never stop believing in yourself like Shashank & I’m sure you will be Man of the match in the game of life,” she added later.
