After Suryakumar Yadav was appointed the captain of the T20I team, Hardik Pandya's chances of becoming the captain seemed low. However, in a recent development, famous commentator Harsha Bhogle said that Hardik's chances haven't decreased. The Board has asked the all-rounder to play all the upcoming white-ball cricket matches, which will help him regain his captaincy position.

"Hardik Pandya has been asked to play all white ball games. The captaincy door is open for him; they are just testing Suryakumar Yadav. Hardik has to stay fit and play all white ball games in order to get back," said Harsha Bhogle.

According to reports, Hardik's red-ball cricket is already over due to injuries. The player isn't interested in playing the longer format because that would impact his back injury. Hence, he'll have to focus on the white-ball aspect of the game, which will help him become India's captain.

Apart from them everyone else is playing: Jay Shah

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah discussed the importance of playing domestic games and how the Board forces players to participate in the Duleep Trophy. Except for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Jay Shah said everybody has to play in the domestic games before playing international cricket. There are players like Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer who are back playing domestic cricket in the Buchi Babu tournament, which started on August 15.

"Apart from them everyone else is playing, you must appreciate that. One must note that Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are playing in the Buchi Babu tournament. We should not insist on players like Rohit and Virat to play in the Duleep Trophy. They will risk injury. If you notice in Australia and England, every international player doesn’t play domestic cricket, you have to treat players with respect," said Jay Shah.
