During the match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed on the grounds of 'obstructing the fielder' as he came in the way of Sanju Samson who was hitting the stumps. With this Jadeja became the third batter in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be dismissed in this manner. After the match, Mike Hussey had a conversation with the media where he discussed this dismissal.
"Didn't look closely at it. He did try to turn around, so he changed his angle a little bit. But he didn't change his angle while running straight. I can see both sides of the story. I can understand the umpire making the decision. The rule says you cannot change your line, so maybe, it was a fair call," said Mike Hussey during the post-match interaction.
It was a much-needed win for the Super Kings who have got those two valuable points and hence are alive in the playoffs race. It was a low-scoring match which is seen rarely in this year's IPL. CSK has one last game against RCB on May 18 which will turn out to be a decider for both teams.
'We would like to play on such pitches...' - Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad on pitch after match against RR
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad seemed happy and confident about the team and their performance in the match against the Rajasthan Royals. Moreover, he also mentioned the pitch conditions and talked in favour of pitches that assist the bowlers more than the batters. In this year's IPL, we have the pitches to have been batting friendly in most of the matches and hence, the tournament has become a nightmare for the bowlers.
"But we had the kind of batters to finish the job and didn't take pressure. We would like to play on such pitches where it will keep our bowlers in the game, the spinners as well. Bowling into the wicket is the plan usually here when it's slow," said skipper Gaikwad at the post-match presentation.
