Hardik Pandya's stepbrother was held by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the police department after a complaint by the Pandya Brothers for duping the cricketer of nearly Rs 4.25 crore. In 2021, the Pandya brothers opened a polymer business firm and Vaibhav was assigned to take care of the business. He breached the terms of the agreement and had set up his proprietorship firm in the same business while the brothers were unaware of this.

"Vaibhav allegedly diverted money from the LLP (limited liability partnership) firm to his firm. Gradually the profit in the partnership firm dropped. Besides, in excess to his due share Vaibhav also allegedly fraudulently increased his profit percentage in the LLP firm without letting the two brothers know," said an EOW officer.

Vaibhav was arrested on April 8 by the EOW of Mumbai police and produced him before a court that sent him to police custody until April 12. He has been charged with cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation.

Mumbai Indians won their first match of IPL 2024

Under Hardik Pandya's captaincy, Mumbai Indians won their first match of the IPL 2024 against the Delhi Capitals by 29 runs. MI team played extremely well as they scored 235 runs in the first innings. It was a collective effort by all the batters as they reached a mammoth total.

However, their bowlers didn't perform well as DC almost chased down the target. Tristan Stubbs scored 71 runs off 25 balls and almost helped DC win the match but the entire team couldn't support him and hence, failed to win the match. It was MI's Gerald Coetzee's bowling efforts which saved the team from losing the match as he clinched four wickets at an economy of 8.50.
