The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the new coaches for Test cricket and white-ball games. Notably, former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has been named as the Test cricket coach. On the other hand, former South African cricketer and 2011 ODI World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten has been named as white-ball coach. However, Azhar Mahmood, who was the interim coach for the recently concluded New Zealand series, has been named as the assistant coach for all formats.
Notably, the announcement was made by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi at a press conference. Naqvi has highlighted Jason's terrific coaching career in international cricket and domestic cricket and how the team has excelled under him. On the other hand, the cricket administrator also made a significant comment on Gary's career and the pivotal role he played when India lifted the World Cup in 2011 under MS Dhoni's leadership.
"Their stellar track records precede them, and I warmly welcome them to the Pakistan cricket family. Jason's coaching career has been marked by success both at the domestic and international levels, with a focus on player development and achieving excellence in team performance. Gary's coaching career has been marked by his ability to instil a winning mentality, develop young talent, and achieve success at the highest levels of the game, making him one of the most respected and sought-after coaches in cricket," Naqvi said of Kirsten and Gillespie.
