Virat Kohli’s ‘shoulder charge’ incident with the teen Aussie debutant Sam Konstas drew a major controversy, alongside an ocean of opinions across the world in the international cricket fraternity. Especially, the former Australian cricketers took it as a ‘can’t be missed’ opportunity to criticize the Indian batting stalwart.

In the same vein, former Australia leg spinner Kerry O’Keeffe took an extra step while criticizing Virat Kohli and called the latter an ‘arrogant’. O’Keeffe made these comments on air while commentating for one of the official broadcasters of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy.

“Kohli has built his whole career on arrogance. Suddenly, he identified that in a debutant and seemed to resent it,” said Kerry O’Keeffe during his commentary stint while speaking about Kohli’s ‘shoulder charge’ moment with the debutant Sam Konstas.

However, it took only a day for O’Keeffe to realize his mistake and take his words back, which he spoke for the Indian great on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test.

“I want to apologize for calling Virat Kohli's behaviour arrogance. I shouldn't have said that. He has got a swagger and plays his cricket like that. I think when he saw another player showing swagger like him, he got a bit annoyed and reacted in that fashion. Kohli is a passionate cricketer and his aggression is what makes him a competitive cricketer,” said the 75-year-old on air during his commentary stint.

Speaking of the action of the game, Virat Kohli was dismissed at the individual score of 36; he was caught by the wicketkeeper Alex Carey off a length ball outside the off stump bowled by Scott Boland. Kohli’s dismissal came just after a tragic run-out of young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after a mixup with the former. Jaiswal also missed a well-deserved century as he had scored 82 runs before getting trapped into a mixup-inflicted run-out.
