Basit Ali the former Pakistani batter recently came under fire from fans after he compared Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni. The young Indian wicketkeeper and batter scored his 6th Test ton during the 2nd innings of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Facing backlash from the fans, Ali took to his YouTube channel and said, “Mujhe Maaf kar do, MS Dhoni legend tha, usne India ko World Cup jitaya, Champions Trophy jitayi. Pant abhi acha kar raha hai, ushe game pe focus karne do. Kya Virat Kohli ko Shubman Gill se compare karenge?”

Rishabh Pant scored his 6th Test ton to move on par with MS Dhoni who also has the same number of centuries. The left-handed batter also scored 39 runs with the bat in the 1st innings of the game.

Basit Ali backs Virat Kohli to find form ahead of Australia series

Meanwhile, the former Pakistani batter has put his backing behind former India skipper Virat Kohli. The 35-year-old struggled to get going with the bat in the last few international games. Barring his 76 in the finals of the T20 World Cup, Kohli’s form has been inconsistent.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali said, “Sab kush hote rahe Bangaldesh aur New Zealand wale match main. Virat shuru hoga Australia se. He will like the pacy wickets in Australia. Big players often lose concentration against weak teams but they do well against tougher opposition.”

The former Pakistani star also added, “People say India win at home but they have won two series in Australia as well. India wont allow Australia to win the Border Gavaskar trophy later this year as well.”

During the course of his YouTube show, Ali also cautioned Pakistan’s white ball coach Gary Kirsten. The former batter said that the South African could be sacked after the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Basit Ali said, “Congratulations to Gary Kirsten. He will be at the helm of the team till the Champions Trophy. However, he will be fired after the Champions Trophy. I am saying this now that it will be tata, bye bye for him. It will be a big achievement for Pakistan to make it to the top four. They have also stepped into the politics of Pakistani cricket. They won't be successful.”
