Former Delhi Capitals player one match ban in Ranji Trophy

Former Delhi Capitals player Ankeet Bawne has been given a one-match ban for showing dissent. The incident happened in the first phase of the tournament last year, where Bawne was given out and the batter argued with the umpires in the game against Services. The 32-year-old subsequently had to miss the key game against Baroda which began on Thursday.

Maharashtra Cricket Association put out a statement which read, “The Maharashtra Cricket Association would like to officially inform that our Ranji Trophy player, Ankeet Bawne, is currently serving a one-match ban imposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).”

The statement also read, “As a result, Ankeet Bawne is unavailable for selection in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Baroda. However, we are pleased to confirm that he will be available for the next match and continue contributing to the success of the Maharashtra team."

MCA’s statement added, “We respect the decisions of the BCCI and remain committed to upholding the principles of discipline and sportsmanship in the game of cricket. The team is fully focused on delivering its best in the ongoing game, and we look forward to Ankeet's participation in the upcoming matches.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad continues with bad run of form 

Krunal Pandya won the toss and put Maharashtra into bat first as Pavan Shah and Murtuza Trunkwala opened the batting. Atit Sheth struck first, getting Shah out bowled for 12. Trunkwala was the next to go as he was out for 22 LBW to Raj Limbani. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, batting at number four, was out for 10 as he was caught by Shashwat Rawat off Sheth. 

Siddesh Veer and Yash Kshirsagar then added 68 runs for the fourth wicket. Veer was out after scoring 48 runs from 88 balls with nine boundaries. Limbani then got the big wicket from Kshirsagar, who scored 30 runs from 98 balls with three fours. 

When stumps were, Saurabh Nawale was batting on 60 off 125 balls with eight hits to the fence. Fast bowler Rajneesh Gurbani was keeping him company on 22 not out from 25 balls with five hits to the fence. Maharashtra ended the day at 258/7 from 86 overs. Atit Sheth was the best bowler for the visiting side, with figures of 3/48 from 10 overs. 

Ranji Trophy
