The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosts USA has created history by beating the Bangladesh team in a T20I match by five wickets. In a surprising turn of events, an Associate Nation was able to beat the Bangladesh team which caused a wave of sensation among the cricket fans. Ahead of the World Cup, the US has announced itself into the world of cricket and it seems like they are here to rule.

While playing a 3-match T20I series at home, in the 1st match, the US won the toss and invited the Bangladesh team to bat first. The batting department failed miserably as wickets kept going at regular intervals. Despite that, they somehow managed to reach a respectable total of 153 runs with the help of Towhid Hridoy who scored 58 runs off 47 balls including four boundaries and two sixes. US' Steven Taylor was the man behind dismantling the top order as he took two wickets at an economy of 3.00.

When the US came to bat, they did lose their first wicket in the 3rd over but then played on really well. None of the batters scored a half-century in the game but managed to win the match due to team efforts. However, towards the end, Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh played the match-winning knocks of 34 and 33 runs, respectively. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets at an economy of 10.20.

'We came out hard to not give Bangladesh a feeling that we a walkover...' - Harmeet Singh after playing match-winning knock against Bangladesh

After playing a match-winning knock and backing himself up the entire time, Harmeet Singh seemed to be quite confident on the team. The US team made sure that they performed extremely well and did not let the Bangladesh team settle for once. For 33 runs off 13 balls, Singh was given the Player of the Match award. His innings included two boundaries and three sixes.

"This is our home ground and we backed ourselves to take that advantage. We came out hard not to give Bangladesh a feeling that we were a walkover. The way cricket is going, 12 and over is very reachable and I backed myself to score. Just needed to connect a few balls, and back ourselves till the end," said Harmeet Singh at the post-match presentation.
