Team India beat Sri Lanka by 82 runs to win their 2nd game of the Women’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday. The win also ensured that India went to the 2nd place in the table in Group A with four points from 3 matches. After the early loss to New Zealand, the Women in Blue bounced back to beat Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Those two wins are all India can take away from the tournament as they have lost the game to Australia. Harmanpreet Kaur was left fighting a lone battle as her fifty went in vain. With this loss India are still second in tnhe table with four points from games with 2 wins and 2 losses. India's run-rate is +0.322. 

New Zealand easily swatted aside Sri Lanka and will take on Pakistan on Monday in a key game. All Sophie Devine and her side have to do is beat Pakistan in their final game. This will push New Zealand to six points and help them join Australia in the final four stages of the tournament.

How can India make it to the Semi-Finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup?

Indian coach Amol Mazumdar has already said that his side will be cheering on Pakistan to help the women in blue reach the semi finals. The loss on Sunday though helped India keep their run-rate over New Zealand which still gives then a sniff for the knockout stages. 

If New Zealand lose to Pakistan by a smaller margin then their run-rate will still be lower than India. This result would mean that Harmanpreet Kaur and her side will head into the final four stages of the tournament. Even Pakistan have an outside chance of making it to the semi-finals. 

Women in Green have to beat New Zealand by 53 runs or less if they bat first. In case Pakistan are chasing on Monday they will to achieve whatever target New Zealand posts on the board within 9.1 overs. In such a scenario Pakistan will overtake India and New Zealand to reach the semi-finals of Women's T20 World Cup 2024. 

As the Women's T20 World Cup reaches its business end, fans of India and New Zealand will be glued to TV sets and their calculators. At this stage of the tournament, Australia are through to the semi-finals with their win over India. The focus shifts to Dubai as the Kiwis hold the upper hand and India's hopes rest on Pakistan in a crunch encounter.
