‘Even Sunil Narine is scoring a century nowadays’ – Fans react after West Indian star scores maiden T20 ton vs RR in IPL 2024

Kolkata Knight Riders star Sunil Narine scored his first T20 century against Rajasthan Royals to help his side reach 223 runs on the board during the IPL 2024 game on Tuesday.

Sunil Narine was the talk of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday with his amazing century. The 35-year-old got to his ton from just 49 balls to become the third-ever Kolkata Knight Rider's (KKR) batter to register an Indian Premier League (IPL) century.

This effort helped KKR reach 223/7 from their 20 overs to set the Rajasthan Royals a daunting total. It was Sanju Samson who had won the toss and chose to bowl first on what looked like a great batting wicket. 

Kolkata Knight Riders went in with the same team while Jos Buttler and Ravi Ashwin came into the XI for the visitors. It turned out to be a wrong decision as the home team put up a huge total on the board. 

Sunil Narine's century helps KKR reach a massive total 

Phil Salt began slowly with the bat before falling for just ten runs as he was dismissed by Avesh Khan. The 27-year-old clung onto a difficult return catch to dismiss the dangerous KKR opener. 

Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi then added 85 runs for the second wicket in just 43 balls. The young batter from Mumbai played attractive shots before he was out for 30 from 18 balls. 

Shreyas Iyer continued his poor run of form with the bat as he was out LBW to Chahal for 11. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Sunil Narine didn’t stop as he took the Royals bowlers on and hit them to all parts of the ground. 

Sunil Narine had scored 85 runs which was his previous best in T20 cricket that had come against Delhi Capitals. The entire Eden Gardens stadium stood up and applauded the amazing effort from their veteran star as soon as he reached his century. 

Kuldeep Sen and Avesh Khan struck crucial blows to dent the KKR batting in the last few overs of the game. Rinku Singh who hasn’t got much to do with the bat this season then scored 20 not out from just 9 balls with a four and two sixes to help his side to reach 223.
