'Ek baar maine kiya tha...' - Harbhajan Singh recalls ugly spat with Ambati Rayudu while commentating in RR vs MI IPL 2025 game

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh is currently active as a commentator in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). He is commentating in Hindi and Punjabi language segments of the ongoing IPL 2025. Meanwhile, Harbhajan recently recalled his ugly spat with his former MI teammate Ambati Rayudu.

Notably, Ambati Rayudu was also there in the commentary box, alongside Harbhajan Singh, when the latter was recalling the incident, while commentating in the IPL 2025 clash between the Rajasthan Royals and the Mumbai Indians.

I got scared of him - Harbhajan Singh on Ambati Rayudu

The former IPL-winning spinner also shared what he felt at the moment when his on-field heated exchange with Ambati Rayudu was initiated, when they were playing for the same team.

“Ek baar maine kiya tha Rayudu aya tha meri taraf yaar ruko dikhata hu tumhe mai, mai darr gaya, mai kaha bhai ruk jao (I had done it once Rayudu come towards me saying wait I'll show you, I got scared I said brother wait),” said Harbhajan Singh during commentary.

Speaking of Harbhajan Singh’s IPL stint with the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, he was a part of the MI setup from the inaugural season in 2008 to the 10th edition of the tournament in 2017, in which they clinched their third IPL title. Harbhajan was a part of the Mumbai Indians squad in three IPL title wins, in 2013, 2015, and 2017.

The turbanator played 136 games for MI, scalping 127 wickets, with a bowling average of 26.75 and a bowling strike rate of 22.98, alongside having an economy rate of 6.99. It also included his best bowling figures of ‘5 wickets at just 18 runs in a game’ for his side.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025, the Mumbai Indians are enjoying a brilliant run of form in the tournament, being placed in the top spot with seven wins and only four defeats in their 11 games so far, having 14 points to their credit. They have registered six consecutive wins in their recent six games in the tournament.
