Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has backed star batter Virat Kohli for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Kaif has shown his confidence in the 36-year-old, who is an outstanding player and has done well in his career. The former player even urged the fans not to 'write him off' since he's the best in the business. Kohli has scored around 13,000 runs in ODIs and has been helping India in crunch situations.
"Virat Kohli never accepts defeat and always makes a comeback. Don’t write him off in white-ball cricket; the picture is far from over because he has 50 ODI tons to his name and nearly 13,000 runs in ODIs. So, forget what happened in tests," said Mohammad Kaif on his YouTube channel.
Kohli was the highest run scorer of the ODI World Cup 2023, which speaks volumes about the player and the kind of cricket he has been playing throughout his career. Hence, he will be carrying the hopes of millions again in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. For the tournament, the Indian team will be led by Rohit Sharma, with Shubman Gill as his deputy.
He plays differently in white ball: Mohammad Kaif
Mohammad Kaif gave a brief analysis of Virat Kohli's stats and records in Dubai and how the player was exceptional the last time he played there. Kohli will carry a lot of confidence with him in the Champions Trophy because he has had a good time in the place and knows how to perform.
"He plays differently in white ball. The last time Virat Kohli played in Dubai, he scored an unbeaten 122 off 61 balls against Afghanistan and smashed six sixes in his innings. His form was excellent and he loves playing in Dubai so I expect him to do well with the bat in the Champions Trophy," added Kaif.
