Champions Trophy 2025 is set to go ahead after the hybrid model was accepted by all parties involved. As per the agreement, India will play all its matches in Dubai, including the finals, should they qualify. Pakistan, on the other hand, will play all their games in Sri Lanka during the 2026 T20 World Cup, skipping India as the venue.

Noted Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta was live on Sports Tak, where he was seen trolling Pakistani media. Indian scribe was constant target of ridicule from sections of Pakistani media, especially on YouTube, when he said India will not travel across the border.

Vikrant Gupta was heard saying, “Pehle mere aagey piche ghumte ho jab kayee tournaments hoti hai. Ab inko pata hai syndrome kya hua hai na 3-5 log hi hai, jo Sunny bhai bolte hai, gire toh bhi tang upar. Main gira toh hu par meri tang upar hai. Win-win ho gaya hai unka pehle kehte the ghutno ke bal aayega India.” (Firstly, you approach whenever there is a big tournament. They have a syndrome—not everyone but just 3-5 guys. Like Sunny sir said, they try to show themselves as unaffected even if they fall. What did they say? India will come on their knees!)

Vikrant Gupta, during his appearance on Sports Tak, also said, “Let me tell you, tarah ke log, Yeh jo India aur Pakistan ke cricket ki baat karte hai na nafratein yahi failate hai. And the problem is you are reporting as a journalist You are reporting aur YouTube pe har koi baith jata hai aur usme do din ki khabar main aapko ek ghanta bolna bhi hai.”

“But if there is no sense, you will not understand sense. Aap reporting kar rahe ho toh mujhe ek baat batao ek reporter duniya main jo cricket cover karta ho, who yeh keh sakta tha pehle din! Ki ghutno ke bal chalke aayega India, unke (India) ke hotel ho gaya hai book aur agar India nahi aaya toh Sri Lanka ko khila lenge. Aur agar hamari gardan kat jayegi toh hum chorh denge Champions Trophy. Yaar have some sense; don’t teach your father how to...”

On Friday, news emerged that the ICC, BCCI, and PCB have agreed upon the hybrid model for the upcoming tournament. Pakistan’s cricket board had sought financial compensation, which was denied by the ICC. The final move has seen Pakistan get the right to host one women’s tournament sometime after 2027.
