Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik is set to play in Legend League Cricket 2024 tournament. The 39-year-old will join his former India teammate Shikhar Dhawan who is set to be part of the league post announcing his retirement on Saturday.
Dinesh Karthik has confirmed that he will play the Legends League Cricket 2024 season. The former KKR skipper will be seen playing for the Southern Superstars team. This is a major coup for the league which is now becoming one of the best leagues for retired stars.
Raman Raheja who is the co-founder of the league said “We are very excited to have Dinesh Karthik join us. His flair, his penchant for finishing matches and entertaining the crowd will undoubtedly add value to the Legends League Cricket. We look forward to seeing him in action alongside other cricket legends further cementing our position as the 2nd innings for legendary Cricketers".
Dinesh Karthik shares his happiness about joining new league
After joining the Legends League Cricket 2024 season, Dinesh Karthik said “Playing at the Legends League Cricket is definitely something I am looking forward to after my retirement”
The former Indian star also said “I am up to the task both mentally and physically and look forward to playing the brand of cricket I have always enjoyed. Most importantly, to the fans, thank you for your constant support and I hope to entertain you once again on the field.”
Shikhar Dhawan released a statement on Monday after joining the Legends League Cricket which read “My body is still conditioned for the demands of the game, and while I'm at ease with my decision, cricket is an inseparable part of who I am, it will never go out of me. I am eager to regroup with my cricketing friends and continue to entertain my fans as we create new memories together,"
Dinesh Karthik is also set to play in the SA20 league early next year for the Paarl Royals. The veteran former Indian star had retired from cricket after RCB’s season ended in the IPL 2024 playoff stages. Post his retirement Dinesh Karthik has been doing commentary and is also set to join Bengaluru’s coaching staff for IPL 2025.
