There have been many reports regarding the morale in the Indian dressing room after the loss in the MCG Test match. Just a few days ago, there was a reported leak about Gautam Gambhir losing his cool inside the dressing room. This was news that was leaked to the media, and hell broke loose.
Indian journalist Bharat Sundaresan was in chat with 7 Cricket before the start of the play on Friday, where he said, “The Indian Express article for me was just the trigger of the simmering uncertainty that has existed in this dressing room, going back to even before the start of the series. I wouldn’t call it a fracture dressing room; it is fragmented like you put it.”

The Indian scribe also added, “And the reason for that is suddenly so many different generation of players, all of them together, and they needed leaders to pull them together and, you know, make them one unit. The first thing I heard was, after the Perth win, such a significant win in the history of Indian cricket.”
India cricket team didn’t celebrate Perth win together?
Bharat Sundaresan went onto say to 7 Cricket, “The fact that they didn’t celebrate it as a team and they just went their own ways didn’t tell me that it was broken dressing room but it was a dressing room where there are different cliques there generationally and otherwise, which is doing their own things.”
The Indian scribe also added, “And this I am told, despite one of the senior support staff members saying, ‘Here I'll get my credit card, and let's all go out and celebrate. That wasn’t to be, and I thought a win like that will bring things together and energise this as one collective (unit), but as we have seen as the series has gone on, it just took that one loss in Melbourne, where it was one bad session and they lost despite fighting so hard for the simmering tensions to surface.”
Just a day before the game, Gautam Gambhir addressed the media and spoke about the reported rift in the dressing room. Gambhir said, “Those are just reports. They’re not the truth. There were some honest words. We just had one conversation on how to win the next test. Honesty is important if you want to go on and achieve great things.”
