Former India player Parvez Rasool came up with a controversial remark while talking about the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rasool had played 11 games in the league including stints with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The veteran Jammu and Kashmir player has also played one ODI and T20I each for the national side.
The 35-year-old was in conversation with Wasaaf Jelani on the latter’s show called Off the Record with WJ. Rasool said “I played five years in Bangladesh, Dhaka League. I rate Dhaka league tougher than IPL. I played IPL also. I played Dhaka League also. Tougher why I told you because in IPL you get a contract, right. You get selected and then whether you play or not, you get a contract."
Dhaka League is the premier fifty-over tournament being played between 12 teams. Few former Indian players have taken part in the league. During the 2022-23 season, Rasool took 31 wickets in the league which was the most by any bowler during that season. Apart from Parvez Rasool, the likes of Hanuma Vihari, Baba Aparjith, Ashok Menaria and many more have played in the tournament.

During his chat Wasaaf Jelani, the 35-year-old said “So it depends on the team, if you are doing good, if you are not doing good in 1 or 2 matches, then you get dropped and stay with the team. But when you play in Dhaka League, altogether, there is a lot of pressure. Why? Because they are giving you a two-match contract only,"
The former India star also added “If you do well in two matches, then you go on. If you fail, you get your return ticket after third match. I won't take any names, but there have been some big players, who played and were sent back after 2-3 matches”
Speaking about Rasool’s international career, the veteran star made his ODI debut against Bangladesh. With the ball, Rasool bowled 10 overs and picked 2/60 which included the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim. His only T20I came against England where Rasool scored five runs and picked the wicket of Eoin Morgan before being sidelined by the selectors.
