During the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024, Rajasthan's captain, Deepak Hooda, threatened the management to leave captaincy over a major conflict. As per sources, Hooda wanted a certain player in the squad, but due to dissatisfaction from the coach and the selectors, he was excluded, leading to this conflict. While backing a player is extremely important as a part of captaincy, rivalry with the management didn't seem right from Hooda's perspective.
Hooda also attended the practice session before the upcoming game but didn't participate. He was taking calls from ad hoc committee members and the Sports Minister during that time. After the conflict didn't resolve, he left the ground without practice. Well, this isn't the first time Hooda has gotten into a fight with the management or player.
"These things happen when there are several people trying to make a decision. The more heads, the more the opinions. It isn’t wrong and it is not a controversy. The captain wanted wicketkeeper-batter Kunal Singh Rathore to continue even though he hasn’t performed for a while now. He has hit only one fifty in his last three games," ad-hoc panel member Dharmveer said.
Deepak Hooda released by LSG ahead of mega auction
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have released their retention list, which includes Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni. It was a shocker for the fans that the management let go of captain KL Rahul from the squad. The player will come under the hammer in the upcoming days as the franchises will bid for him once again.
LSG have shown immense trust in Mayank Yadav as they have retained him for INR 11 crores. Recently, the fast bowler made his debut for the Indian team in the last series against Bangladesh. The only concern for the player would be the injury scare for the IPL season.
- Nicholas Pooran: Rs 21 crore
- Ravi Bishnoi: Rs 11 crore
- Mayank Yadav: Rs 11 crore
