After the ‘Virat Kohli argument with Channel 7 reporter’ incident stormed into the global media, the eyes are now centred towards the star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder found himself at the receiving end of a controversy following his ‘choice of language’ issue with Channel 7 while addressing the press on Saturday, December 21.

Jadeja was a part of media interaction after the practice session at the MCG in Melbourne on Saturday ahead of the all-important Boxing Day Test. The bunch of journalists included the press professionals both from India and local Aussie media outlets.

In the same line of events, Channel 7 blamed the Indian all-rounder for not opting to answer the question in English and he answered all questions in his native [Hindi] language.

Furthermore, the channel representative also quoted Jadeja as saying that he was getting late for the team bus. Jadeja also called it ‘strange’ to have a press conference at such short notice. Channel also claimed that the Indian team’s media manager had asked Australian journalists to join the press conference but they were left amazed when the all-rounder started answering the questions in his native language.

Second media-player controversy within a week

Meanwhile, some of the major media outlets in India have come ahead in Jadeja’s support; a few major Indian media outlets said that it’s the first and foremost right of Jadeja to address things in his own native language and to translate it for foreign media.

Earlier a few days back, the controversy was ignited when the former India skipper and the batting stalwart, Virat Kohli had an altercation with one of the Channel 7 reporters. The Indian batter accused the media professional of filming his children without his prior consent or permission.

Speaking of the ongoing five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, the series is currently levelled at 1-1 after the third Test in Brisbane ended in a draw.
