In a massive shift of developments, it seems that the International Cricket Council might accept India’s demand to make the Champions Trophy 2025 into a hybrid model. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is set to have its way as per reports doing the rounds.

BCCI wanted the tournament to be shifted to Sri Lanka or UAE as it didn’t want to play in Pakistan. It is unclear that the Indian government is set to permit the BCCI to play in Pakistan.

Earlier there were reports that India might miss out on the tournament and Sri Lanka will take their place. The latest developments will give a major setback to Pakistan who had hoped to host India for the first time in 16 years.

Salman Butt targets BCCI over Champions Trophy standoff

Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has hit out at BCCI angrily over their Champions Trophy stand. Taking to his YouTube channel, Butt said, “Pakistan has got the rights to host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and it should be held in Pakistan. Like all the other teams, India should also come to Pakistan. Pakistan went to India for the World Cup, so India should also do the same.”

The former skipper also said, “A lot of things have been said about the relations between the two countries, but India's kabaddi and tennis teams have visited the same Pakistan. Either you cut off completely, or you try to be normal everywhere. You can't pick and choose, which they have been doing.”

"Pakistani fans want to see the Indian players play here. There are many fans of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in Pakistan and even bring their posters during PSL matches, despite knowing that they aren't part of the league. People want to see these stars play in front of them. I am sure that even in India there are people who are fans of some Pakistani players,” said Salman Butt.

Just a few days ago while speaking to News 24, Shahid Afridi said, “I will welcome Team India. Even when Pakistan used to tour, we received a lot of respect and love from India, and when India came in 2005-06, all their players enjoyed it. There is no better advent of peace than India and Pakistan going to each other's country and playing cricket. If Virat Kohli comes to Pakistan, he'll forget the love and hospitality of India. He has his own class.”
