Former Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir has cast major doubts over India’s bowling attack ahead of Champions Trophy 2025. The comments were made after Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly set to miss the tournament after swelling in his back. Bumrah got injured during the final test match in Sydney and didn’t bowl in the second innings of the game.

Amir during his chat with Times of India said, “It will be a huge loss to India if Bumrah isn't there. He has been a top bowler for India, leading the pack from the front. Without him, the Indian bowling attack is reduced to 40-50 percent of its strength,". According to reports, Bumrah is set to report to National Cricket Academy soon. 

Indian selectors are yet to pick the team for the ODI Series against England and Champions Trophy 2025. Mohammed Shami is back in the side after missing over an year of cricketing action due to injury. The 34-year-old has been named in the team for the five-match T20I series against England. 

Mohammad Amir backs Pakistan to do well against India

The biggest match during the Champions Trophy 2025 tournament is between India and Pakistan. Dubai is set to host the game which is to be played on 23rd February. The game is already being massively anticipated by the fans with over a month to go for the event. 

Speaking about the game, Mohammad Amir said, “The way Pakistan has played recently defeating Australia in Australia and then beating South Africa shows their strength, especially in overseas conditions. Considering their recent performances, I think Pakistan will have the upper hand against India. However, India has always been my favorite in big tournaments. But the Indian team is under pressure and facing severe criticism due to their recent defeats.”

Pakistan will begin their tournament with the game against New Zealand on 19th February. Team India begins their campaign against Bangladesh with their opening game of the tournament against Bangladesh. It is to be noted that Pakistan are the defending champions of the tournament having beaten India in the finals of the 2017 event.
