Indian captain Rohit Sharma claimed that he and head coach Gautam Gambhir get along well. Rohit and Gambhir have been collaborating since Rahul Dravid left his position as head coach after winning the Men's T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies. However, since Gambhir took over as coach, India has suffered consecutive Test series defeats to Australia and New Zealand. India's 12-year home Test supremacy came to an end following their 0-3 loss to the Black Caps.

According to recent allegations, Gambhir also slammed the Indian squad in the dressing room during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, Rohit Sharma stated that Gambhir has profoundly trusted him. During Saturday's press conference announcing India's teams for the Champions Trophy and ODI series against England, Rohit expressed his thoughts on Gambhir.

"Both of us were very clear about what we wanted to do. I am not going to sit here and discuss what goes behind the scenes, every game tactically. But it's very clear in my mind. But Gautam Gambhir is pretty... once we enter the field, he trusts what the captain is doing on the field,” Rohit said in the presser, where chief selector Ajit Agarkar was also present.

In an attempt to get back into form, Rohit recently joined Mumbai's Ranji Trophy training session. According to information obtained by India Today, the BCCI has mandated that all cricket players participate in domestic matches to maintain their eligibility for national selection. However, there is no guarantee that he will play in Mumbai's match against Jammu and Kashmir in the Elite Group A Ranji Trophy.

His place in the national squad was also called into doubt after Rohit’s terrible performance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Before withdrawing from Sydney Cricket Ground’s New Year’s Test, Rohit has only amassed 31 runs in three Test matches. Additionally, Gautam Gambhir's place as head coach was questioned.
