The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is set to start on October 3 in the UAE and all the players are gearing up for it. To encourage the Indian women's team, Star Sports has created a promo video featuring Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt. Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading the Indian attack ahead of the tournament. The best ten teams will be playing in the tournament which is an interesting thing.
The video went viral within seconds as Alia was seen encouraging the players and went on to say, 'We are going to create history'. Featuring Alia in the video was a good move as she is an inspiration for many people in India and around the world. She is a hard-working individual who gives her 100 percent in everything she does.

This is an important tournament for all the women who will be playing. The tournament is finally happening in October in the UAE but it was supposed to take place in Bangladesh. However, due to the political unrest in the country, ICC decided to move the tournament to UAE. Players' safety was the main concern for the Board, and they decided to shift the tournament, which was a good call.
ICC hikes prize money for Women's T20 World Cup 2024
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has increased the prize money for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. This step was taken to give equal opportunity to the women who are giving in their full effort and deserve equal pay as their male counterparts. Hence, the Board decided to hike the amount to $2.34 million, which is almost 134% higher than the amount Australia got in the ODI World Cup 2023. Last year, the prize money was around $1 million.
"The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will be the first ICC event where women will receive the same prize money as their male counterparts, marking a significant milestone in the sport's history. The decision was taken at the ICC Annual Conference in July 2023, when the ICC Board took the step of reaching its prize money equity target seven years ahead of its schedule of 2030," said the ICC.
