The draft for the 2025 season of the Hundred League was held recently. 45 players from Pakistan had registered but none of them were picked. This didn’t sit down well with noted Pakistani journalist Arfa Feroz Zake, who alleged that BCCI had played a role behind the rejection. Arfa Feroze Zake wrote, “BCCI has started influencing The Hundred League, due to which no Pakistani player was picked in the draft of The Hundred League.”
Just a day after Champions Trophy had ended, the same Journalist had used his X-handle to call ICC Chairman Jay Shah “Politician, Propagandist” amongst other things and further went onto write, “PCB and cricket fraternity in Pakistan must be aware that Jay Shah will do everything to damage Pakistan Cricket in his tenure as ICC Chairman.”
Apart from these tweets, Arfa Feroze had also demanded an apology for not “inviting” PCB for the closing ceremony of the Champions Trophy tournament. In a series of tweets, the journalist took a swipe at the Apex Cricket Body and also went on to question the entire tournament and call it biased.
James Anderson and Rocky Flintoff go undrafted in 100 league
Former England pacer James Anderson had registered himself for the Hundred League. The 42-year-old didn’t find any bidder despite signing a season-long deal with Lancashire to play domestic cricket. Anderson had also registered himself for the IPL Auctions but had gone unsold. Andrew Flintoff’ son Rocky aged 16 also didn’t find any takers in the draft process.
Former Australian batter David Warner will play for the London Spirit, which is set to be coached by Justin Langer. The Spirits side also have signed Jamie Overton and Ashton Turner for the coming season. Southern Braves, on the other hand, have made their bowling unit stronger by singing Reece Topley to compliment Jofra Archer, Craig Overton, Chris Jordan, and Tymal Mills.
Rachin Ravindra is set to play for the Manchester Originals along with Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad. Ravindra scored two centuries in the recent Champions Trophy tournament to become the fastest batter to register five centuries in ICC tournaments.
