The Super 8 race for Bangladesh and the Netherlands in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 is still on, with one game left. This game is crucial for both teams to qualify for the 2nd stage in the marquee event. Meanwhile, India, the US, West Indies, Australia, South Africa, England, and Afghanistan have already qualified for the Super 8. Group 1 consists of India, Australia, and Afghanistan. The last team to qualify will join them in the Super 8.

Group 2 comprises England, South Africa, the West Indies, and the USA. While the 2nd group is already full, group 1 is still waiting for their last opponent. England struggled to qualify as accurately as they won the match against Namibia with a considerable margin and got those critical points and the net run rate, while Australia defeated Scotland, which made their job easy. The other teams have reached the Super 8, fair and square.

Bangladesh's qualification scenario

In group D, two teams are still in the race for qualification, and one of them is Bangladesh. They have won two out of three matches and have four points under their name. Their last game is against Nepal, which is already out of the tournament. However, Nepal's performance against South Africa was terrific as the Proteas almost lost the game but won it by 1 run. Hence, winning against Nepal won't be an easy job for Bangladesh, but if they manage, they'll qualify for the Super 8. Nevertheless, if they lose, they'll have to depend on the Netherlands' results.

Netherlands' qualification scenario

The Netherlands certainly played some good cricket in the tournament, but the results weren't in their favour. The loss against South Africa would have hurt them a lot since the match was a close one. They still have one last chance to qualify for the Super 8 if they defeat Sri Lanka with a huge margin and make their net run rate rise. With that, they'll get two points. Next, they'll have to pray for Bangladesh's defeat against Nepal so that they can easily qualify. While the entire process seems complicated, the matches will be fun to watch.
