In place of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah is set to lead the Indian team in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 which is scheduled to take place on November 22, in Perth. The stand-in captain is super excited about his new role. While attending a presser ahead of the first game, a media professional asked him, "How does it feel to captain India as a medium pace all-rounder?"
Bumrah didn't appreciate the thought of calling him a medium pacer even though he bowls at 150 kmph, hence he gave a quirky reply with a smile. He said, "Yaar, I can bowl 150kmph, at least you say fast bowler captain." When asked about his captaincy role and whether he can take the pressure or not, Bumrah revealed that he loves being a captain.
"Bumrah didn't appreciate the thought of calling him a medium pacer even though he bowls at 150 kmph, hence he gave a quirky reply with a smile," said Bumrah during the presser. It will be an interesting game to watch as the two pacer bowlers will lead their respective sides.
We are very well prepared: Jasprit Bumrah
The stand-in captain, Jasprit Bumrah, was asked about the team's preparation ahead of the first Test match in Perth, to which he said, 'We are very well prepared.' India came to Australia two weeks before the first game, which gave them a chance to settle down and understand the environment more. The practice sessions were good and now the real game will begin soon. Hence, the players will be looking forward to the start of the BGT series from tomorrow.
"We are very well prepared because we came here early. We got some time to spend at WACA. A lot of youngsters are coming here for the first time. But when we came here for the first time, we got less time than this, and we ended up winning the series. We always believe and have confidence in our side," added Bumrah.
