India's Abhishek Sharma was on fire during his 39-ball 74 knock during the India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday, September 21 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his innings, that was laced with six fours and five clean hits that cleared the fence with ease.

Throughout his blistering knock, Abhishek was at the helm of some harsh verbal interactions with the opposition pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. The Punjab all-rounder has revealed that the Pakistani duo were throwing comments involving personal attacks at him and his opening partner Shubman Gill. The Indian duo then had to confront the opposition and handle the matter in their own manners.

“Personally, I did not like because on every ball, their bowlers were trying to poke at me, launching some personal attacks on me and Shubman [Gill]. So I felt that it was necessary for me to respond to them in my style. Because, this is not how cricket should be played, in my opinion. I was constantly having a word with Shubman that give them a befitting reply after winning the match tonight,” Abhishek told Sony Sports Network in a post-match chat.

India to face Bangladesh next

Speaking more about the match, India won the game convincingly with six wickets and seven balls to spare. After being unbeaten throughout the group stages, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side beat their arch-rivals Pakistan in the rematch from the Group A clash to mark the perfect start to their Super Fours campaign. Their next clash is against Bangladesh, in a clash which will be played at the iconic venue of Dubai on Wednesday, September 24.

The winner of this clash will most likely book their spot directly into the summit clash of the continental competition. The final will once again be played in Dubai on September 28 and no team would want to miss out on making an early entry into the title-deciding clash.
