Aminul Islam Re-Elected as BCB President, Takes Charge of Bangladesh Cricket's New Era

Aminul Islam re-elected as BCB President, will lead Bangladesh cricket and BPL with former players joining key committees for next four years.

Bangladesh cricket is entering a transformative phase with Aminul Islam Bulbul re-elected as president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB). The former national captain, Known for being Bangladesh's first Test Centurion and leading the team during their maiden World Cup in 1999, will serve a four year term previously holding an interim position earlier this year. Aminul's unopposed election reflects confidence in his leadership and commitment to developing cricket across the country.

New Leadership and Committee Structure

The BCB elections, held on October 6 in Dhaka, featured a combination of physical and electronic voting, with 115 of 156 eligible voters casting ballots. The board now comprises 25 members, including three former national captains: Aminul, Faruque Ahmed and Khaled Mashud. Faruque and Shakhawat Hossain were elected vice-president unopposed. The board's internal elections also appointed key directors for various committees to oversee the next four years of Bangladesh cricket. The decision came following a board meeting on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. "There was no problem (in the meeting) as I had to leave due to personal reasons," Faruque told Cricbuzz on Tuesday. "I did not take any committee as I want to take it slow considering I just returned in the board room. Surely I will contribute for the betterment of cricket to the best of my capacity," he said.

Aminul will chair the Working Committee, the Grounds Committee and the Bangladesh Premier League(BPL) Governing Council, placing him at the center of both domestic and international cricket operations. Mithu will act as the Member Secretary of the BPL Governing Council, in addition to his role as Chairman of the Umpires Department. The upcoming BPL is scheduled for its traditional December-January window, signaling continuity in the country's premier T20 tournament. following is the category wise distribution of players:
