Pakistan cricket team were eliminated from the first round of Champions Trophy 2025 with just one point from three games. Mohammad Rizwan and his side had come into the tournament as the defending champions. To make matters worse, Pakistan were hosting an ICC event for the first time since 1996.
Former cricketers Mohammad Amir, Ahmad Shahzad, and Rashid Latif were part of a show called 'Harna Mana Hai.' The host Tabish Hashmi who is known to poke fun and bring hilarious elements into his show took a huge jibe at Rizwan’s English. Social media has always poked at Pakistan’s white-ball skipper inability to speak the language fluently.

Tabish Hashmi during the course of the show said, “You are representing 25 Crore people in Pakistan. We want the person representing us to talk well, look good, and play with honesty and fearlessness. Whenever I see our captain Rizwan conduct a press conference or talk to someone, I don’t say you have to talk in English, you can speak in Urdu but atleast make it understandable for us when your are making a point.”
The host also took a jibe at the now famous quote of, “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn” made by Rizwan. At this point, former opening batter Ahmad Shahzad could be seen laughing putting his head down. Mohammad Amir on the other hand was trying to control his laughter while Rashid Latif looked unimpressed.
Mohammad Rizwan breaks silence on Pakistan’s early exit from the tournament
With Champions Trophy now nearing its end, Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan has come under huge fire. The 32-year-old has spoken out for the first time about his team’s bad performance that saw them finish last in the group. The hosts lost to New Zealand and India before their final match versus Bangladesh was rained out.
Rizwan as quoted by Times of India said, “We wanted to do well and perform in front of our nation. The expectations were very high and we didn’t perform well, and it is disappointing for us. We want improvement in different areas. If we want to raise Pakistan’s standards, we need awareness and professionalism. We see that in the Champions Cup, but we need more improvement.”
Pakistan skipper also mentioned Saim Ayub’s injury as a huge cause behind the team’s failure. “The guy who has been performing well in the last few months, the team was looking settled, and then suddenly when someone is injured, the team gets disturbed.”
