The auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The franchise owners are set to fill their slots with some of the best players in the world. Former RCB star AB de Villiers has chosen his top four picks for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the upcoming mega auction 2024.
While talking on his YouTube channel, as a former member of the RCB team, De Villiers wants Yuzvendra Chahal back in the squad. Apart from him, he voiced for Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. De Villiers wants RCB to go for streetsmart players who can understand the Chinnaswamy Stadium well.
"Team RCB, my dream team. Guys, the good news is we still have Virat, all right? And we didn’t spend too much money with the retentions. A lot in the bank still, which I’m very happy about. 83 crores to spend. We need a team that understands the Chinnaswamy, who can play there, who are street smart, who can bowl to plans, who can play to plans, who’s got a very good understanding about the game of cricket. And Yuzi Chahal or Ravi Ashwin, Bhuvi Kumar, Kagiso Rabada," said De Villiers on his YouTube channel.
Virat Kohli becomes RCB's highest-paid player
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise has retained former captain Virat Kohli for INR 21 crores. He is the first retention of RCB, as the franchise has shown immense trust in him for the next three years. If Kohli plays for the next few years without retiring, he will complete 20 years with the same franchise. He has been with the team since 2008.
The franchise brought him at INR 12 lakhs back then, and now, with his hard work and dedication, he has turned the amount to INR 21 crores. RCB have retained three players: Kohli, Rajat Patidar for INR 11 crores and Yash Dayal for INR 5 crores before the auction.
