Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) posted a mammoth 196 runs on the board in the eight game of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday. Tim David took Chennai Super Kings pacer Sam Curran to the cleaners in the final over of the game as he hit three successive sixes to help RCB post the commanding total on the board.

After two dot ball in the first two deliveries of the over, Curran bowled a full toss that was smashed over the backward square leg region for six. The next ball saw David hit the second six off the over the bowler’s head. The third and final six of the over came when Curran’s slower ball went for a huge maximum over the long-on region.
By the end of the innings, David had managed to score 22 runs from just eight balls with one four and three sixes. Curran was hit for 19 runs from the final over as the left-arm seamer ended his spell having conceded 34 runs from his three overs. The best bowler for the hosts was Noor Ahmad who picked three wickets from his four overs.
Rajat Patidar blitz helps RCB score 196 on the board
Put into bat first by Chennai, the visiting side saw Phil Salt get off to a good start with the bat. Salt scored 32 off just 16 balls with five boundaries and a six before he was stumped by MS Dhoni off Noor Ahmad. Devdutt Padikkal then was out for 27 caught by Gaikwad to give Ashwin his first wicket of the day.
Virat Kohli struggled with the bat as he scored just 31 runs from 30 balls before falling to Ahmad. The Afghanistan spinner then removed Liam Livingstone for 10 before to end his spell on a high and also claim the purple cap. The star for RCB with the bat was skipper Rajat Patidar who scored 51 off just 32 balls with four boundaries and three sixes.
Speaking to the broadcasters in the mid-innings break, Noor Ahmad said, “Truly grateful for the Purple Cap and hopefully I keep it till the end of the tournament. The pitch was a little different, there wasn't much turn and I wanted to bowl length deliveries. I feel lucky to have Dhoni behind the stumps.”
