Indian all-rounder Axar Patel scored a brisk fifty for Gujarat during the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament on Thursday. The 30-year-old smashed 24 runs from the final over to help his side reach 251 on the board. Thanks to the assault Gujarat were able to win the game by 48 runs.
Karnataka seamer Vidhyadhar Patil bowled the final over of the innings and the first ball went for six. Just 2 runs came from the ball before Patel deposited the ball for a huge six in the third ball of the over. This was followed by a boundary through covers to make it 18 runs from the over. After yet another dot ball, the final ball went searing over the ropes for the third six off the over.

Former KKR batter Aarya Desai top-scored for Gujarat with 73 off 40 balls. Axar Patel scored 56 not out from 20 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes. In reply, Karnataka were all out for 203 in the 20th balls with Smaran Ravichandran top scoring with 49. Mayank Agarwal was out for 45 from just 20 balls. Ravi Bishnoi was the best bowler with 3/28 from his four overs.
Abhishek Sharma and Mohammed Shami shine as Baroda sets new record
Punjab skipper Abhishek Sharma scored a century from just 28 balls during the game against Meghalaya. Urvil Patel had scored a century from 28 balls as well earlier in the tournament. Punjab chasing 144 to win won the game by 7 wickets with 63 balls to spare. Abhishek Sharma was not out on 106 runs from 29 balls with 8 fours and 11 sixes.
Baroda beat Sikkim by 263 runs after registering the highest score in T20 cricket earlier in the day. Delhi beat Arunachal Pradesh by 10 wickets as they chased down the target of 90 in just 6.1 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 97 runs from 48 balls led Maharashtra to 231/4 from their 20 overs. Services lost the match by 41 runs as they could only score 190/8 in their 20 overs.
In other games, Goa scored 237/6 from their 20 overs and beat Nagaland by 108 runs. Uttar Pradesh beat Jharkhand by 10 wickets in Mumbai as Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked a hattrick. Chandigarh and Railways won their respective game as Bengal beat Rajasthan by 7 wickets with Mohammed Shami picking 3 wickets.
