Following their victory in the WNBA Finals on Sunday, Sabrina lonescu, a guard for the New York Liberty, attracted a lot of attention as she had an emotional moment with her husband. In the pivotal Game 5 at Barclays Center, the Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx 67-62 in overtime. Following a season marked by record-breaking viewership and tremendous development in the sport, the postseason saw some of the greatest basketball atmospheres in league history.

Sabrina Ionescu nonetheless made contributions in other areas despite having a poor scoring day, ending with only five points on 1-of-19 field goals. The All-Star guard helped New York win its first-ever WNBA championship with seven rebounds, a game-high eight assists, two steals, and a block.

She was unable to control her emotions after the competition, as she exited the home fans and yelled with joy. Shortly after, Lonescu was seen sharing the occasion with her husband, Hroniss Grasu, and giving him a hug. Horiss Grasu, the spouse of Sabrina Ionescu, is a free agent and an NFL player. The Las Vegas Raiders were his previous team.

New York Liberty won the WNBA title for the first time

Like Ionescu, Grasu played at the University of Oregon before proposing to New York Liberty star in 2023. According to People, the couple married in March 2024, a year later. There will undoubtedly be a lot of celebration at the Ionescu home when the Liberty win the team's first title.

Even though the Liberty were among the first teams when the WNBA began in 1997, they have yet to win a title until today. A strong squad consisting of Stewart, Jones, Sabrina Ionescu, Nyara Sabally, Leonie Fiebich, Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, and Courtney Vandersloot, as well as six WNBA Finals appearances, was necessary to win. After 28 seasons, the Liberty have finally won the WNBA championship. Both Brooklyn and Manhattan, the city where the business began and its present home, will be honored with ceremonies, according to rumors.
