It wasn't until January 14, 2022, that point guard Lonzo Ball of the Chicago Bulls made his NBA debut. After more than two years away, the 26-year-old guard appears to be approaching close to joining the NBA again for the 2024–25 campaign. Ball's career has recently faced difficulties due to injuries.

He appeared in just 35 games during his first season with Chicago Bulls, which took place from October 20, 2021 to January 14, 2022. Since stepping off the court at the United Center following his defeat against the Golden State Warriors, he has not participated in any games.

Before the 2022-23 season, Lonzo Ball had arthroscopic debridement to treat persisting knee problems. However, continued discomfort in his surgically repaired knee forced Chicago to rule him out for the full season. Ball subsequently underwent a cartilage transplant in his left knee, forcing him to miss the whole 2023-24 NBA season.
