San Antonio Spurs' young play Victor Wembanyama played one of the best NBA games so far in his career. On Friday night's game against the New York Knicks, he helped the team to victory over them. In that game, he scored a career-high 40 points as the San Antonio Spurs won the game in overtime by 130-126.

In addition to his 40-point performance, Wembanyama grabbed 20 rebounds, gave seven assists, and scored four three-pointers, including a vital one in overtime with 1:12 left to give San Antonio a four-point lead, which was enough to propel the Spurs to victory.

This win earned Victor Wembanyama his first three-game winning run in his career. His heroics helped the Spurs overcome an astonishing 61-point explosion from New York Knicks Jalen Brunson, who was one basket shy of breaking New York's single-game club scoring record.

Wemby's previous career best was 38 points, which he scored earlier this season when they defeated the Phoenix Suns in November 2023. Similarly, this is his second game with at least 20 rebounds.

Wembanyama became the first youngster to have at least 35 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, and three three-pointers in one game. The 20-year-old also joined Shaquille O'Neal, an NBA icon and four-time champion, as the only two rookies to have a 40-20 game.

He became only the third player in NBA history, behind DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis, to have a 40-20 performance with four or more three-pointers, which demonstrates his ability to affect the game in a variety of ways.

The Spurs have eight games left this season, giving Wembanyama a few more chances to build on one of the finest debut campaigns in history.
