Orlando Magic defeats Memphis Grizzlies with a 118-88 win

The Orlando Magic defeated the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 118-88 on Saturday, with Wendell Carter Jr. contributing 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The Orlando Magic defeated the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 118-88 on Saturday, with Wendell Carter Jr. contributing 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Orlando led by as much as 43 points and ended its three-game losing streak. Seven Magic players reached double digits, including Cole Anthony (15), Jalen Suggs (15), Franz Wagner (13), and Paolo Banchero, who had 13 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and four blocked shots, tying his career best. Joe Ingles contributed 11 points.

After the first two minutes of the game, Orlando Magic never trailed as they shot 48.7 per cent from the field, including 22 of 44 (50 per cent) from 3-point range. Before the game Desmond Bane Santi Aldama and Memphis were unavailable.

Orlando Magic led the game from the beginning



At the end of the first quarter, Orlando led by 20 points and never let the Memphis Grizzlies get close. For Memphis Grizzlies Jordan Goodwin took the charge coming off the bench as he scored 16 points and 11 rebounds. Brandon Clarke got 13 points. GG Jackson and Scottie Pippen Jr both scored 11 points each. Jake LaRavia scored 10 points and Luke Kennard got nine points after missing out on five NBA matches. 

With only 3:44 minutes remaining to end the first quarter to get Orlando Magic 24-9 lead coming off the bench Joe Ingles scored 3-pointers back-to-back. Going to the second half he scored 11 points as Orlando Magic was leading by 33-13. The Magic started the second quarter with eight consecutive points and led 49-24 following Anthony's three-pointer with 5:43 remaining in the half.

Orlando led 58-34 at halftime, thanks to 11 points each from Banchero and Ingles. Memphis shot 25.6 per cent from the floor for the half, including 3 of 17 (17.6 per cent) from the 3-point line. Orlando continued its relentless tempo and led 90-55 at the end of the third quarter. At the end of the fourth and final quarter, the score between Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies was 118-88.
