The WNBA season started a few days ago. Las Vegas Aces have secured one of the biggest deals in the WNBA's history. Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the city's tourist agency, said on Friday that it will sponsor each of the 12 players on the Aces roster for $100,000, with no restrictions other than continuing to play basketball. The sponsorship is intended to reduce gender disparities and allow the squad to focus on their sport.

After getting the deal, the CEO of LVCVA, Steve Hill gave a surprise visit to the players in the locker room. He recorded a video where he said, "We want you to just play, we want you to keep repping Las Vegas. And if you get a three-peat, that'll be icing on the cake," as per Bleacher Report.

Las Vegas Aces has won two back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023. They were practically unbeatable during the later championship run, winning the regular season with a 34-6 record and going 8-1 in the playoffs.

Wilson has been the driving factor behind Las Vegas' success, as the two-time MVP has always come up in clutch situations. In 2023, she averaged 22.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, with a career-high 2.2 blocks and a 55.7 per cent field goal percentage.

Las Vegas Aces have drawn increased attention

With their recent success, the Aces have drawn increased attention to the city; according to Front Office Sports, the team's championship-clinching victory over the New York Liberty in 2023 was the most viewed WNBA Finals Game 4 in history.

The 2024–2025 season got off to a great start for Las Vegas' title defence as they defeated the Phoenix Mercury 89–80 on Tuesday. In 34 minutes on the court, Wilson scored 30 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for a double-double in the victory.
