In an epic comeback for the ages, the Los Angeles Clippers overcame a 26-point deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-118 yesterday. This marks the Clippers' 50th win of the season and secures their place as one of the top contenders in the NBA playoffs.

The game started on a bad note for the Clippers. The Cavaliers, led by a strong performance from Darius Garland, dominated the first half. By halftime, the score stood at a staggering 80-59 in favour of Cleveland. The Clippers' defence was nonexistent, allowing the Cavaliers to score with immaculate ease.

However, the tide began to turn in the third quarter. The Clippers tightened up their defence and chipped away at the lead. Paul George emerged as the hero, scoring 23 of his 39 points in the final period. The comeback wasn't a one-man show. James Harden provided valuable support with 22 points, and key three-pointers from Terance Mann and Amir Coffey in the fourth quarter brought the Clippers within striking distance.

"I didn't want to go on the bench...": Paul George

This win holds immense significance for the Clippers. Not only does it solidify their position in the standings, but it also showcases their resilience and ability to perform under pressure. Post the game, George admitted that he insisted on being on the court rather than on the bench and he thanked his coach, Tyronn Lue for granting his request as it helped him win the game for the side.

"My body felt good. I thought the game was in reach. I didn’t want to go on the bench and waste time sitting on the bench. Just keep my body warm and stay in attack mode. I was in attack mentality. And T-Lue granted me that wish to play and start in the fourth, and I just tried to come through and elevate the team," the 33-year-old said.

The Cavaliers, on the other hand, will be looking to learn from this defeat. Despite leading for most of the game, their inability to close it out against a determined Clippers team would have caused a lot of hurt and disappointment.
