Klay Thompson returned to the Golden State Warriors’ Bay Area for the first time after leaving the team. Mavericks and Thompson arrived at the Chase Center in San Francisco and received a grand welcome from the fans and the team. They were present for the opening game of the NBA Cup, held on Tuesday.
During the game, the fans received white hats with the Golden State Warriors logo imprinted on them, as the game dubbed ‘Salute Captain Klay’ as a gesture to pay tribute to Klay Thompson. Following this, the Golden State Warriors team also played a funny yet heartwarming video for the former star player.
After 13 years of staying with the team, Klay Thompson shifted his side and went to the Dallas Mavericks. His time with the Golden State Warriors was termed as the legendary era as the player had given several remarkable milestones to the team. On the star player’s return, the team along with the team coach, Steve Kerr, sang praises and said, “You are an icon in this franchise. Your statue will be outside Chase one day.”

As the video was played, the heartwarming messages from the team members of Golden State Warriors, with soft music took the fans in awe. In a funny turn of events, the team did not leave a chance to troll the star player.
In their own way, they warned Klay Thomson that he was entering into the enemy territory. They said, “Thank you for everything that you did, but we still gotta beat you tonight, but unfortunately, I gotta kick your ass tonight. I can’t wait for you to come back, but I hope you have an off-night shooting, so good luck I’m going to foul you.”

Klay Thompson was also welcomed by nearly four hundred employees of the Golden State Warriors, as he exited the Mavericks bus and stepped into the locker room. The fans showered him with love and appreciation, they were happy to see the star player back in Chase.
