An image of star American swimmer Katie Ledecky and Basketball legend Michael Jordan hanging out in a luxury box in 2000 has gone viral on social media. The unlikely duo, both sporting legends in their respective fields, seem to be enjoying each other's company in the snapshot.

Katie Ledecky, the dominant Olympic swimmer, was just a kid in 2000, while Michael Jordan, the basketball icon, was at the height of his fame. The photo shows them relaxing in a luxury box, likely at a sporting event, with Ledecky trying to unbox something and Jordan looking his usual cool self.

Ledecky has 13 medals in 4 Olympics appearances

Ledecky is an Olympics star swimmer with a tally of 13 medals under her name and that too in just 4 Olympics appearances. She recently won a silver medal in women’s 4x200 meters freestyle relay in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. Ledecky is the all-time most decorated female Olympian in the history of USA. After the legendary swimmer, Michael Phelps, who has the record highest of 28 medals in the history of the Olympics, Ledecky stands at the 2nd position in the swimmers’ category to win 13 or more Olympics medals.

“I guess it really hasn’t sunk in, just because I have one more race — or two more swims left. But I guess to accomplish that with a relay feels fitting to me. I’ve been on that relay so many times over the years with so many great people. So, it’s really special to do it as part of a relay." Ledecky was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

While the context of the photo is unclear, fans took no time to share their reaction to the legendary picture. Ledecky has often spoken about her admiration for Jordan's competitive drive and success, and Jordan has likely taken notice of Ledecky's record-breaking swimming career.
