Joe Mazzulla provides update on Kristaps Porzingis' injury ahead of NBA Final Game 5

Basketball: A healthy Kristaps Porzingis is crucial for the Celtics to win their record-tying 18th title. However, he missed Game 3 and Game 4.

The NBA Final series has started between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks. So far 4 games have played Boston Celtics has won 3 Games and Dallas Mavericks has won 1. Now Boston Celtics are leading the NBA Final series by 3-1. However, the Dallas Mavericks managed to win Game 4 against the Boston Celtics. 

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics are in a safe position as they are leading the series and if they win Game 5 they will be called the NBA champions. Boston Celtics aim to win the Game while Dallas Mavericks also needs to win the next to stay alive in the series and to give a tough fight. Ahead of Game 5 Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving need to step up for the next game. Boston Celtics are ahead of the Dallas Mavericks to win the series. 

In Game 4 Luka Doncic scored 29 points scored as Dallas Mavericks won against Boston Celtics by 122-84. However, Luka Doncic was removed from the game due to doing six fouls in the game. Despite commonly held belief, the Celtics are under just as much pressure to win the series as the Mavericks do to stay alive.

A healthy Kristaps Porzingis is crucial for the Celtics to win their record-tying 18th title. The Celtics centre had an injury in Game 2 of the series, and although being labelled as eligible for Game 4, he did not play a single minute due to a coach's decision. Joe Mazzulla of the Celtics provided insight into Porzingis' availability for Game 5.

According to ABC News, "I haven't talked to him yet," Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla told reporters at TD Garden on Sunday. "Going to talk about that before we start [practice]. ... So I'm not sure kind of where he's at."

Due to a ruptured medial retinaculum that allowed for the displacement of his left posterior tibialis tendon, Porzingis was unable to play in Games 3 and 4 in Dallas. Before he was hurt in Game 2, he made a comeback for the NBA Finals, helping Boston to a plus-25 record in the 44 minutes he played in the first two games and to a tie in the 52 he did not
