On Sunday Jayson Tatum got his career's first playoffs triple-double as he scored 23 points 10 rebounds and 10 assists to help the Boston Celtics defeat Miami Heat 114-94 as they started the playoff series with a win. While his teammate Derrick White scored 20 points and four assists and six players from Boston Celtics ended up getting in double-figures.
On Sunday's game at TD Garden, the Boston Celtics were ahead in the third quarter as they scored 22 points with three-pointers and took the lead by 31-14. Going into the fourth quarter they got 34 points however Miami Heat couldn’t catch their lead as Boston Celtics were sealing a win in Game 1 of the playoffs series.
In the regular season, the Boston Celtics were winning 38 games and were defeated in only 4 games at home and have won four games with the Miami Heat in their previous meeting. Miami Heat charge was led by Bam Adebayo who scored 24 points and Delon Wright scored 17 points while Jamie Jaquez Jr. got 16 points. Miami Heat was playing the game without their star player Jimmy Butler who is suffering from a right knee injury. Jimmy Butler got injured in a play-in tournament. Terry Rozier was also not available for the game due to a neck injury.
Boston Celtics dominating from the start of the game
Sunday's game seemed drastically different without Butler, whose postseason heroics fuelled Miami's rise from play-in games to NBA finals a year ago. Boston has defeated the Heat in all three regular-season matchups this season. However, the Boston Celtics were dominating from the start of the game. Tatum went down at the last second on a dunk attempt on the game's first possession, but he recovered the ball and found Brown for a three-pointer.
Last season, Miami shattered the Celtics' NBA finals ambitions, moving out to a 3-0 lead in the conference finals before blowing them out in Boston in Game 7. Game 2 will take place on Wednesday.
