In a recent comment that sent shockwaves through the basketball community, Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady openly questioned Steph Curry's place among the NBA's all-time greats. While responding to his fans' tweets, McGrady announced his verdict on Curry and went on to clarify his position.

In response to one of the tweets, McGrady stated unequivocally that Stephen Curry does not deserve a spot in his top ten, citing the Warriors' dynamo's lack of individual domination compared to countless other all-time greats. When a user in X wrote “Stephen Curry is a top 5 NBA player of all time”

According to Pink Villa McGrady said, “No, you're tripping on that. He hasn’t cracked my top 10 yet. He just hasn't. I think Steph has had a phenomenal career, Obviously, four championships, and two league MVPs, he has a Finals MVP. But if you go back and look at his career when Draymond is out of the lineup for the season. If you look at Klay Thompson, who missed that season.”

“To me, if one of your guys is missing and you can’t make the playoffs, I can’t put you in the top 5 or top 10. I just can't. Greatness to me is when one of your guys is out, you still have to elevate your team at least to the Playoffs. They don't even make the Playoffs when Klay or Dray are out of the lineup. They haven't even won a Play-In game at all. Top five? No chance,” he added.

Stephen Curry guided the team to four NBA Titles

McGrady's criticism focused on Curry's apparent reliance on his teammates Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, stating that the Warriors' performance decreases when one or both are away. The former NBA great also argued that genuinely excellent players may propel injury-plagued or shorthanded teams to postseason victory, meaning that Curry's inability to perform in these situations detracts from his historical rating.

Notably, Curry has had worthy responsibilities in guiding the club to four NBA titles and six finals appearances, which, along with his continuous on-court excellence, establishes his strong stand as one of the Warriors' finest players. After getting upset in the play-in tournament Golden State Warriors will look to make strategic for the new season. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson is set to be a free agency which means they have to manage the load of Stephen Curry.
