One of the biggest basketball talents to ever come out of India, Satnam Singh is now attempting to establish himself in the professional wrestling ring. Satnam Singh Bhamara made history in July when he became the first Indian to be selected into the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Dallas Mavericks selected the then-19-year-old, who stood seven feet two inches tall and weighed little more than 131 kg, as the 52nd choice in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Singh made NBA history by being selected as the first player of Indian heritage, drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft. He established himself as a potential role model for other Indian players, even though he never participated in an NBA regular season with the Dallas Mavericks.

Satnam never appeared in an NBA game after being selected by the Dallas Mavericks. Satnam participated in the 2015 NBA Summer League for the Mavericks before being acquired months later by the Texas Legends, the Mavericks' G-League affiliate team. However, after only 27 games in two seasons, Satnam was let go by the Texas Legends, putting a stop to his much-anticipated NBA debut.

Satnam was not happy with his time in the United States and returned to India to consider his options before signing a deal with the country's UBA Pro Basketball League in 2017. Satnam was also able to connect with basketball leagues in Australia and Canada because of the Virat Kohli Foundation.

Tested positive for doping

The Australian Basketball League approached him about being a development player, which meant he would largely practice with the main squad but not play games. Satnam had his finest game in the Finals, earning a near double-double of 7 points and 8 rebounds while playing a series-high 12 minutes. The St. John's Edge ultimately lost Game 4 to the Moncton Magic, who won the 2018-19 NBL Canada championship.

Just when Satnam's career was taking off, he tested positive for doping. He was also selected for a key position in the Indian squad that was going to qualify for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
