On Wednesday night, ahead of the last game in the WNBA, just before the Olympics break, the Dallas Wings defeated Indiana Fever by 101-93, but Caitin Clark gave 19 assists as she broke the WNBA game record. In Chicago's game against Indiana on August 31, 2020, Courtney Vandersloot established a record of 18, which was surpassed by Clark. On September 28, 2021, Vandersloot also had eighteen in a playoff game.

With 2:22 left in the game, she set up Kelsey Mitchell for a 3-pointer, breaking the previous mark. That brought it to 93, but Dallas went on an 8-0 run to win it. For Dallas (6-19), Odyssey Sims and Arike Ogunbowale both scored 24 points. In addition, Natasha Howard finished with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals. For the second time this season, the Wings scored 100 points or more.

With a career-high 28 points, Aliyah Boston led Indiana Fever (11–15), while Clark added 24 points. NaLyssa Smith finished with 12 rebounds and 13 points. With 44.6 seconds left in the game, Ogunbowale took a shot as she dribbled and gave the lead by 97-93 lead.

Caitlin Clark recorded her 14th assist early in the fourth quarter, surpassing her previous career high of 13. She became only the second rookie in WNBA history to have more than 200 assists in a season, after Ticha Penicheiro (225) in 1998. Clark beat Penicheiro's rookie assist record of 16, established on July 29, 1998.

Caitin Clark is the ninth player overall and the first rookie to record at least 400 points

Courtney Vandersloot set the previous record of 18 for Chicago on August 31, 2020. Vandersloot also scored 18 in a playoff game on September 28, 2021. Ticha Penicheiro set Sacramento's previous rookie record of 16 on July 29, 1998. She also scored 24 points while her teammate Aliyah Boston scored 28 points. Her eight points came from Caitin Clark's assists.

In WNBA history, Clark is the ninth player overall and the first rookie to record at least 400 points and 200 assists in a season. Six players have accomplished this feat: Sue Bird, Jordin Canada, Natasha Cloud, Sabrina Ionescu, Courtney Williams, and Vandersloot. Chelsea Grey has three such seasons, Alyssa Thomas has two, and six others have done it once. Four times during the previous season, Clark established a record of thirteen assists. The most recent came on Friday night when they defeated Phoenix 95-86.
