On Thursday night, the Connecticut Sun defeated the Washington Mystics 94-91. DiJonai Carrington scored 10 of her 22 points in overtime, and DeWanna Bonner finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. 

With 2:43 remaining in overtime, Carrington scored a wide-open 3-pointer and then stole the ball, setting up a fast-break layup that gave the team an 89-85 lead. With 56.4 seconds left, Carrington made another three-pointer to give the team a 92-88 lead. Myisha Hines-Allen responded with a three-point play on the opposite end.

Trailing 92–91 with 15.5 seconds left, Washington Mystics requested a timeout. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough received a pass from Ariel Atkins in the corner after the player dribbled into the lane and missed a 3-point shot. With 3.9 seconds left, Carrington made two free throws to give her side a three-point advantage. Julie Vanloo's halfcourt heave was unsuccessful at the buzzer.

Tyasha Harris had 23 points and four steals for Connecticut Sun (14-3). For Washington (4-14), Stefanie Dolson finished with 18 points and Hines-Allen ended with 21, but the team's success was spoiled by 23 turnovers. With Shakira Austin (11.7 points per game), Brittney Sykes (11.3), rookie Aaliyah Edwards (lower back), and Karlie Samuelson (hand) out, the Mystics were down to eight players.

Harris hit a three-pointer with 48.0 seconds remaining in regulation to put Connecticut ahead 82-80. Carrington drove the baseline after a Washington error and hit a basket while being fouled with 24.3 seconds remaining. However, Carrington missed the free throw, leaving the score knotted at 82-all.

Washington maintained the ball at the top of the key to run out the time before launching its offence with around 5 seconds remaining. Vanloo drove into the lane, colliding with Veronica Burton, and the referees called an offensive foul. Connecticut had a solid attempt to win the game, but Bonner's long 3-pointer rattled off the rim.
