Caitlin Clark becomes only second player to sign a deal with Wilson after Michael Jordan

Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly the most talented player in the WNBA currently. She has an uncountable list of achievements which speaks volumes about her skills and talent. The star player was recently drafted as the number one pick by the Indiana Fever in WNBA 2024.

Meanwhile, the star Indiana Fever player has now signed a deal with Basketball manufacturing brand, Wilson, as a multi-year contract worth $8.1 billion. It’s quite a big deal for Clark as she is the only second player to sign a deal with Wilson after the legendary Michael Jordan. Check out what’s her thoughts on this deal.

“I think it is super special, and it’s been fun for me. I feel like I was just that young kid who had those basketballs that I would store in the garage. I’m just very lucky and fortunate to partner with Wilson to create something that everyone can enjoy. It connects with a lot of generations, and it’ll be fun to see kids walking around holding them.” Clark was quoted as saying by Boardroom.

“Indiana is still a place that doesn’t feel too big, so I feel like the transition for me has been actually pretty easy and pretty smooth. This organization really values women’s basketball. So, coming in here and having the resources and facilities, things are only going to get better as this league continues to grow. I couldn’t really have imagined a better place for me to start my career. And obviously, it makes it easy for Iowa fans to just transition right over to Indiana Fever fans and bring new fans to the WNBA to join the existing fans.” she said.

Clark also talked about the importance of the league and said that it should be watched all over the world not just in Europe or wherever. She said that the NBA has a massive fanbase around the world and she wants the same for WNBA. However, only time will tell how will they target the global audience.

“It’s kind of crazy to think about people watching you play in Europe or wherever, but people certainly want to watch from everywhere. It’s not just here in the United States,” Clark said. “They want to watch all over the world. Continuing to make that accessible for all, I think it’s going to be really important and really just continue to help our league grow.

“As you’ve seen with the NBA, they have fans all over the world, and that’s what’s helped them grow. I think that’s something that’s certainly important to the WNBA as well.” Clark said.
