According to Lakers Daily Kevin O’Connor said, “Instead, James projects as more of a disrupter.” “Comparisons that came up in these conversations include Patrick Beverley, Davion Mitchell, and Norris Cole. Beverley has had the longest career of the three because he’s the best shooter (37 percent from 3 in his career). Mitchell has yet to figure out his shot with the Kings, while Cole won two titles with LeBron [James] in Miami before flaming out, in part because his shot never developed. But all three of them were respectable defenders. Bronny will have to follow in their footsteps to catch on with a winning team.”

Going first with Patrick Beverley, who has shown himself to be one of the better guard defensive players in the last ten years. He has been selected for three All-Defensive teams, and he has been among the top 10 players in the Defensive Player of the Year voting many times. In 2023-24 regular he played 70 NBA games for the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers. His average is 6.1 points, 2.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 3.2 rebounds per game. His shooting from the field was 41.4 % and beyond the arch was 32.8%.

Bronny James has registered for the 2024 NBA Draft

While for Davion Mitchell he has made 69 appearances for Sacramento Kings. He is playing his third season and is valuable in a defensive unit for the team. Cole has spent a significant amount of time away from his NBA playing career; his last league game was with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016–17. But in 274 total regular-season games earlier in his career, he was a crucial two-way role player for the Heat, which was headed by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 assists, and 0.8 steals a game throughout that time.

The 19-year-old Bronny James has registered for the 2024 NBA Draft, but he may decide to play one more season of college basketball since, to maintain his college eligibility, he also joined the transfer portal after spending one season at the University of Southern California. James should be able to have a lengthy and prosperous career in the NBA if, assuming he gets the chance to play there at some time, his influence on the defensive end of the court is similar to that of Beverley, Mitchell, and Cole.
