Pierre Gasly’s remarkable drive at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix marked a significant milestone in his Formula 1 career, as he secured his first-ever podium finish with the BWT Alpine F1 Team. The race, held at the iconic Zandvoort circuit, was one of the most challenging of the season, with unpredictable weather conditions, multiple pit stops, and even a red flag delay adding to the drama.

Starting from twelfth on the grid, Gasly showcased his resilience and skill by navigating through the chaos to finish in third place. The race started under overcast skies, with rain playing a pivotal role in the unfolding events.

Gasly maintained his composure throughout the race, making crucial strategic decisions that kept him in contention for a top finish. As the race progressed, Gasly found himself running in fourth place at the restart following the red flag period, with only a few laps remaining.

Here is the video:

He held his position behind Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez, who was later handed a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane. This penalty promoted Gasly to third place, much to the delight of his team and fans.

“It feels really good”, says Gasly

The result was a significant achievement not only for Gasly but also for the Alpine F1 Team, as it marked their second podium of the 2023 season. Esteban Ocon, Gasly’s teammate, also delivered a commendable performance. He finished in tenth place after starting sixteenth on the grid, securing a double points finish for the team.

Gasly’s post-race celebrations were filled with joy and relief. His excitement was palpable as he celebrated with his team over the radio, a moment that quickly went viral on social media. Reflecting on the race, Gasly expressed his gratitude towards his team, saying, "What a race! It feels really good to be on the podium here in Zandvoort, and the entire team deserves this. After the season we have had so far, with so many ups and downs, I do feel we deserve this result."
