Formula One (F1) season is set to begin with the first race of the calendar to be hosted by Australia. All eyes are on former World Champion driver Lewis Hamilton who has moved to Ferrari for the coming season. Oscar Piastri who is set to drive for McLaren has made a huge statement on the British legend.
During a chat with the fast and curious YouTube channel, Piastri said, “I would say, if I wasn’t racing in F1, seeing Lewis Hamilton win a world championship with Ferrari, would be pretty cool. It would be if I wasn’t racing against him.” Hamilton who turned in January this year shocked the world with his move to Ferrari late last year.

The 40-year-old has won seven world titles with his last coming in 2020. Max Verstappen has led the charts over the last few years making Red Bull the dominant team in Formula One in recent times. In 2024, Ferrari put up a tough fight to end Red Bull’s dominance but the late charge wasn’t enough as Verstappen won the title.
Carlos Sainz: Hamilton can win his eighth World Title
Williams-Mercedes driver Carlos Sainz believes that Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari can see him win his eight world title. Sainz, was the driver who has been replaced by the 40-year-old seven times world champion at Ferrari for the upcoming season. Leading British newspaper quoted Sainz as saying, “When I left Ferrari I did feel the team and Charles were ready to fight for a world championship and with Lewis joining that chance is only going to increase.”
The 30-year-old also added, “When I look at Lewis’s results and his background and what he has achieved, I can only say that there will be a very high chance that he is going to be competitive for Ferrari. But like everything, it will all depend on how well he can adapt to the car and how well he can adapt to the team.”
Sainz ended by saying, “I’ve seen Charles Leclerc, and I know how good Charles is, but I’ve never been teammates with Lewis. The only way you can more or less evaluate a driver purely is when you’re their teammate and you see what they’re capable of doing. But like everything, it will all depend on how well you can adapt to a car.”
